One of the warmest female plastic surgeons is no longer with us….
Violeta Skorobac-Asanin sadly died at her home in Belgrade yesterday, it is unbelievable that this warm enthusiastic energetic friend is no longer there.
The plastic surgery society has lost another icon: President of the Serbian Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Society, organizer of several very successful ISAPS courses, fighter for Patient Safety, former National Secretary of ISAPS, former chair of Patient Safety Committee of EASAPS, current member of ISAPS Women and EASAPS Scientific committee but above all a true servant always working hard for the world around her.
She graduated as MD at the University of Belgrade, became a plastic surgeon and finished her PhD on lipotransfer and extraction of stemcells from fat tissue in 2018. She was the first female Serbian plastic surgeon to start a private practice in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery. Patient safety and education were very important for her, she was passionate about making plastic surgery safe, painless and available to everybody.
Violeta was special, she worked hard for her patients, for Serbian plastic surgery, for European plastic surgery and plastic surgery worldwide, always without selfishness, always for the good of all. Her legacy should make us remember that serving others is a virtue.
Her hospitality was legendary, Violeta and Dragan, a perfect team always taking care of all. Anyone who ever attended one of her courses or visited her will agree, her laugh was unique, and her hugs even more. They will be missed dearly.
As Jean Cocteau wrote: “le vrai tombeau des morts est le coeur des vivants”, the real tomb of the dead is the heart of the living.
So let’s keep her in our hearts, to keep her legacy alive!
It took me a week to digest the loss of our great friend colleague Violet Asanin.
I shared with her many hours sitting in Boards, Committees and Meetings and there was no one that could be like her, always in a good mood, with a smile and bringing joy to our Meetings.
I had the pleasure to work with her in ISAPS and in the last years in E(A)SAPS. In the last 2 years (2017-2019) she was Chair of Patient Safety Committee in E(A)SAPS and this was one of her greatest passions in Aesthetic Surgery, to care for patients and to be sure that safety comes first.
During my term she became Member of the Scientific Committee, being one of the more active persons looking always for Education of the youngest and scientific support for the Society.
She was so enthusiastic and hard worker to get her PhD, being one of the leaders worldwide in Regenerative Medicine, pioneer in fat grafting to the lower extremity, with great contributions to science and Plastic Surgery.
She was an exceptional worker for the spirit of Europe and Aesthetic Surgery through this Continent.
She and her husband, Dragan, were the best company you can have in the social part of our Meetings and we were used to share with them so many good moments,
