Chair: Kai Kaye

After attending medical schools in Bonn, Paris V, Los Angeles (UCLA) and Munich (TUM), I received my medical degree from the University of Munich (TUM) in 2001 and subsequently received my University Doctorate Magna cum Laude /PhD in 2002 after two years of research in the field of reconstructive plastic surgery at the TUM (Prof E Biemer).

After my residency in Berlin (Dr Ueberreiter) with a special focus on breast surgery and autologous fat transfer and at the University of Aachen (Prof N Pallua) with specialization in the field of Microsurgery, burn surgery and hand surgery I enrolled in a 2-year aesthetic fellowship at a private clinic in Malaga / Spain in 2006 to hone my skills in aesthetic procedures.

Upon completion in 2008 I founded a multispecialty health and Plastic surgery clinic in Marbella / Spain which has been constantly growing and currently employs 13 clinical and administrative staff members and 6 doctors in 4 specialities. My actual position as medical director includes communication with the departments, ensuring the quality of patient care and implementation of homogenous standards in all specialities. At the same time I am the head of the Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive department.

A great interest in basic and clinical science has been the focus of Dr. Kaye’s medical career. In 2001, Dr. Kaye took the opportunity to do a clinical research internship with the a main focus on microsurgery at UCLA under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Bill Shaw.

From 2002 onwards Dr. Kaye was accepted for residency training in Germany under the mentorship of Dr. Klaus Ueberreiter in Berlin, where he had the chance to do clinical research on breast reduction techniques and fat grafting during 3 years, before he was accepted based on his clinical research experience to join the Aachen University Clinic for Plastic, Reconstructive, Hand and Burn Surgery in 2004 to finish his residency program in Plastic surgery under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Dr. Norbert Pallua.

With this background of clinical research he spend to years abroad in Marbella / Spain to spezialize in aesthetic surgery before taking his European board exam EBOPRAS in 2007 and his German Medical Board Exam Plastic Surgery in 2008.

Since 2008 Dr. Kaye works in private practice and continues to do clinical research in his own centre and basic research in collaboration with the Eberhard Karls University Tübingen.
