Letter from the General Secretary

Dear Colleagues,

The EASAPS ExCo and General Assembly meetings were organized in conjunction with the ISAPS congress in Kyoto last month, with whom we have a Memorandum of Understanding and close links.  The General Assembly meeting was honoured by the presence of 31 people from 18 countries.

The goal of EASAPS is to function as a link between the European National Societies of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and to encourage and provide aesthetic surgery education for European plastic surgeons. The Society also stands as a forum to interchange information regarding the common topics for Europe, such as the recently approved CEN standard for aesthetic surgery, legislation for VAT and issues with medical device approval. The next EASAPS congress will be held in Bucharest, Romania from on 4-8 October 2017 and it will include the competition for the “Voice of Europe” and “Ulrich T. Hinderer” prize. EASAPS is also launching a 3-month fellowship, which is open for applications from plastic surgeons under the age of 35 and less than 3 year in practice.

The Society has survived times of transition and is reforming its functions according to the needs of member Societies. We shall therefore send all Member Societies a poll to find out about your hopes and expectations for EASAPS and we use this information to map our direction for the future.

EASAPS has not collected membership fees due to it’s restructuring and there will only be a nominal fee of 500 € / Member Society for the year 2017.
According to the EASAPS bylaws, the National Societies can appoint 1-4 persons to represent their National Society at the EASAPS General Assembly (1 vote/country). The next General Assembly will take place in Bucharest in 2017 and, after that, during the ISAPS 2018 meeting in Miami.
